Logo and branding for a gaming streamer and filmmaker based in NYC.

JJ (aka JJackson Live) wanted a logo and brand design for his personal brand, which encompasses his Twitch livestream channel, his Youtube channel where he posts short films, and his social media.

JJ selected a royal purple as the central design color and wanted his logo to either be just a wordmark of his initials or a cartoon of him accompanied by his initials. He expressed interest in a doodley design for the banners, to communicate his fun, goofy personality, and he wanted the banners to strike a balance between minimalism and busyness, leaning toward the busier side.

Assets included a logo, three illustrative banner designs (one for Twitter, one for Youtube, and one for Twitch), and an embellished profile photo.

Logo Design

For the logo, I created these sleek letterforms of JJ’s initials, with little curved and spiked details that match the motifs in the banner designs without making the logo too busy. Since JJ’s main focus is gaming on Twitch, I wanted the logo to have a sort of edgy, modern, sleek feel that is reminiscent of the branding for many gaming consoles.

Branding Design

To create busy, doodle-style designs, I used abstract wave, spike, and sparkle motifs on the banners, while incorporating a thin line in the doodles to add a hint of minimalism.

I carried these wave and sparkling diamond motifs over to the doodles I did to embellish JJ’s profile photo for a consistent aesthetic style.
